booting into Xp from dual boot screen

I'm trying to boot in to safe mode onto my xp install from the dual boot with xp and vista. f8 will only work for the atsiv install, and holding shift won't work when i teceles the xp install. Does anyone know a way that i should be able to boot up the windows install in safe mode?
